Late Start/Early Dismissal/School Closure
District decisions to start school late, dismiss early, or close school due to inclement weather are made in consultation with experts in the fields of weather (National Weather Service), transportation (Vision of Elk River), and safety (Sherburne, Wright and Hennepin County Sheriff offices).
If Elk River Area Schools are to be closed because of storms or other emergencies, that decision will be communicated through the following channels:
- District and Rogers Elementary School websites
- District Parent Notification System
- District’s main phone greeting at 763-241-3400
- News media (WCCO Channel 4, WCCO 830 AM, KSTP TV Channels, KARE TV Channel 11, KMSP/FOX Channel 9, and WQPM radio (106 FM or 1300 AM).
